Epoxy Floor Resurfacing & Repairs

  • Cracks and Chips:
  • Small chips in epoxy floors can typically be repaired using mortar or epoxy patching composites, along with a curing process and sanding for smoothness. Larger chips and cracks on the other hand will require a new epoxy topcoat layer to be applied after the damaged area is filled. This is because larger chips and cracks will compromise the integrity of the epoxy coating and make it very unappealing if the top layer is not recoated.
  • Air Bubbles:
  • When epoxy is not applied properly, bubbles may form on the surface due to low quality epoxy mixtures or poor bonding between the epoxy coating and the underlying layer. These bubbles are an eyesore and leaving them could result in extensive peeling. Air bubbles are repaired by sanding the surface and then applying a fresh epoxy topcoat to have your floor looking brand new.
  • Peeling:
  • Peeling can occur when epoxy coatings are not applied properly. A peeling surface can be repaired by first sanding the area, and then applying a fresh coat of epoxy. This new coat is a thinner layer that simply seals the surface, restoring appearance and protecting the underlying layers from additional damage.
  • Surface Discoloration:
  • We understand that staining and fading may occur with accidents or older epoxy floors. Our team of experts use tinted sealers and water-based staining solutions to correct the color and darken faded areas.

Should My Epoxy Floor Be Resurfaced or Replaced?

You're once stunning and gorgeous epoxy floors are now worn down, faded, chipping, or covered in abrasions. With age, epoxy floors can show signs of wear and deterioration. After all, they are only designed to last 10-20 years. Should you resurface or fully replace your damaged and worn-down epoxy floor? Typically, when epoxy floors have surface level wear or damage such as chips, bubbles, or peeling, it is okay to patch, sand, and reapply an epoxy topcoat to resurface the floor. However, when deeper and more severe damages such as cracking occur, resurfacing becomes ineffective and replacement is recommended. Additionally, it is also recommended to repair or resurface your epoxy floor as soon as damage occurs to prevent the issue from worsening.
